The Grandeur That Was Argao Nature Park - Argao, Cebu
As of this writing, Argao Nature Park has yet to reclaim its glory days. By the looks of it, this place used to be an adventure park that has lost its splendor. There used be a functioning zipline, hanging foot bridge, wall climbing, etc but what remains now are a mini-zoo, boating and gazebos. Per my conversation with the attendant, the place is for rehabilitation.

THE MYSTICAL WOODEN BRIDGE AND MARIA CACAOHere's an interesting story behind the mystical wooden bridge. In the olden days, the people in Argao built the bridge over Argao River which most people call Purgante (meaning Entrance or Opening). It was said that twice a year especially during high tide, the bridge is damaged and most people believed that it was due to Maria Cacao traveling on her Golden Ship. Because of the size of the ship, the bridge would get hit by the ship everytime Maria Cacao passed by the Purgante. If you have to go there, you have to be very careful in crossing the bridge when taking pictures because aside from some minor damages, the place is mystical.

MINI ZOO, GAZEBO, BOATING, OPERATING HOURS AND ENTRANCE FEE FOR ARGAO NATURE PARK
Entrance to Argao Nature Park is only five pesos (P5) and if you go there boating, entrance is P10. You can also roam around the place and check out some animals there or if you get tired, you can relax at the gazebos. As was mentioned, the park has yet to reclaim its splendor. Argao Nature Park operating hours is 8:00am to 5:00pm, so clearly it does not want itself to be a lover's lane (lol).

SURROUNDING AREASBefore reaching the park, you will pass by several benches in the middle of the road heading to the place, passing by rice fields on each side of your route. Near the entrance, there is a children's playground, eateries and vendors selling food items to feed your hungry stomach.

HOW TO GO TO ARGAO NATURE PARK FROM CEBU CITY
- Go to Cebu City South Bus Terminal by riding a taxi, Grab or Uber
- Ride a bus bound for Alcoy, Dalaguete, Bato via Oslob or Bato via Liloan, Santander. Fare is P100.
- Disembark at Argao Town Proper.
- From Argao Town Proper, hire a tricycle to bring you to Argao Nature Park. That's it, it's that easy.
