DO NOT BOOK FOR A SUPERIOR ROOM GOOD FOR 3 PERSONS AT SAVOY HOTEL MACTAN NEWTOWN VIA AGODA
The frontliners are on the mercy of receiving a complaint from a shouting irate guest for this modus/scam from one of Agoda Agent Scammers. Sad for them. (I have updated my Savoy Hotel Mactan blog)
For the 2 NIGHTS STAY FOR SUPERIOR ROOM GOOD FOR 3 PERSONS we paid Php8706 and for 2 NIGHTS STAY FOR DELUXE ROOM GOOD FOR 2 PERSONS we paid Php5600 plus.
We had an issue with the SUPERIOR ROOM GOOD FOR 3 PERSONS. Savoy Hotel Mactan only gave us a room good for 2 persons, not what is written in my booking confirmation which was good for 3 persons.
I sent the booking confirmation to Savoy Hotel Mactan which clearly indicated the amount we paid for a SUPERIOR ROOM GOOD FOR 3 PERSONS for Php8k plus but then Savoy Hotel Mactan only followed what is written in their record and gave us a Deluxe Room good for 2 persons which is valued at Php5,600 plus. (I wonder where the over Php3k savings went, to the Agoda scammer or to an insider at Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown in charged of booking? For this, they surely will reap what they sow, in due time, in God's perfect time)
Such a shame to both Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown Management and Agoda Management, for allowing Agoda agents to proliferate and thrive on scamming unsuspecting guests in booking a SUPERIOR ROOM GOOD FOR 3 PERSONS but then only report to the hotel a booking good for 2 persons instead of 3 persons. Savoy Hotel Mactan Management could have done better but yet they continue to do their business like nothing is happening to their guests. They CLEARLY LACK COORDINATION with Agoda or probably other booking websites especially Agoda and let the bookings come in and out without even bothering the inconvenience caused by Agoda or other booking websites, to unsuspecting guests.
2 NIGHTS STAY FOR SUPERIOR ROOM GOOD FOR 3 PERSONS is Php8706 and 2 NIGHTS STAY FOR DELUXE ROOM GOOD FOR 2 PERSONS is Php5600plus. This makes me question, is there someone from inside Savoy Hotel Mactan behind this that allow the proliferation of this Agoda Agent's scam and get a share of what is to be remitted to the hotel or is Savoy Hotel Mactan too busy to address this Agoda scam? For example: The amount I paid for the Superior Room Good for 3 persons for 2 nights was Php8,706, however, the Agoda agent only reported a Deluxe Room Good for 2 persons to Savoy Hotel Mactan, thus, it is what was given to us by Savoy Hotel Mactan, which make me question the honesty of someone who is in charge of the Agoda booking at Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown. The agent saved Php3,000 plus from this booking as we were only given a Deluxe room good for 2 persons for 2 nights totaling Php5,600 plus. I am sad for the frontliners who will be on the receiving end of the complaints from an irate guest that may involve shouting. They are lucky I am not one of those but I definitely have to say it here on my blog so that prospective guests who wanted to use Agoda in booking Savoy Hotel Mactan to take extra caution in proceeding via the Agoda app or Agoda website. I am writing this review just so other people who wanted to stay at this hotel be warned NOT TO BOOK A SUPERIOR ROOM GOOD FOR 3 PERSONS, you might end up staying at a DELUXE ROOM GOOD FOR 2 AND SAVOY HOTEL MACTAN WILL NOT BE EVEN INTERESTED TO FOLLOW UP ON YOU ON YOUR INCONVENIENCE.
I strongly suggest for Agoda Management and Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown Management to investigate their agent/staff who is in charge of the bookings as there might be an anomaly that is awaiting to be discovered, that these scammers might be sharing something from any gains they got from a booking discrepancy, in the expense of Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown guests, in our expense, they gained over Php3,000.
If you really wanted to stay at Mactan Newtown, you might want to consider Belmont Hotel Mactan (they might have a better management and yes, I know they are under the same group of hotels with Savoy Hotel Mactan but Belmont Hotel Mactan may offer an awesome experience for you) and CSuites, but refrain from using Agoda especially if the number of persons you are booking for is more than 2.
I love Mactan Newtown but I may be staying somewhere close when I go back there someday.

As personally discussed with you by Ms. Sham during your check-in, the accommodation given to you was exactly what was booked by our OTA partner. Ms. Sham also did her part in contacting Agoda to help verify and correct your booking but we also did not get an immediate response from them. I apologize that you had to go through this and please be informed that we are in contact with Agoda with regards to this system glitch. We understand your frustration as were not receiving a straight answer from the agency as well. We really do hope that you get the refund from them soon.
Integrity and honesty are values we treasure most in Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown and I can assure that you assumption of having an “insider” or “scammer” in our property is not accurate, we too are a victim of this system glitch and we will strive to correct this immediately. There is no way that I will tolerate this from an online partner and you shall hear from us as soon as we get a feedback from them.
